Protein and Cell Separation

Protein and cell separation are important processes in life science and pharmaceutical research. During this process a single type of protein or cell is isolated from a complex mixture, in order to study that particular protein or cell in more detail.
Separations technologies are a multi-billion dollar market. Mix&Go can be used to attach specific capture agents, such as antibodies, to beads or resins which are then used to “pull” the molecules or cell of interest out of the mixture. This is often done using magnetic beads which, after they have captured the target molecule/cell are concentrated and collected using a magnet.

Initial experiments with Mix&Go on magnetic beads show that it performed as good as the commercial gold standard without any optimization. Further work is in progress to improve on this performance.
